Where do the ISTE, NBPTS, and WVPTS
"speak" to or promote teacher leadership, particularly leadership for
technology integration?
ISTE-NETS-T: Standard
5- Engaging in Professional Growth and Leadership: Teachers continuously
improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership
in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the
effective use of digital tools and resources.
The NBPTS: Proposition 5- Teachers are Members of Learning Communities: Teachers are leaders
and actively know how to seek and build partnerships with community groups and
businesses. Teachers work with other professionals on instructional policy,
curriculum development and staff development.
Teachers can evaluate school progress and the allocation of resources in
order to meet state and local education objectives.
The WVPTS: Standard 4 – Professional Responsibilities
for Self-Renewal: The teacher persistently and critically examines his/her
practice through a continuous cycle of self-improvement focused on how he/she
teaches and works in a global, digital society. The teacher who contributes to
the teaching profession through the implementation of practices that improve
teaching and learning demonstrates characteristics of informal teacher
leadership. Standard 5 – Professional Responsibilities for School and
Community: The teacher demonstrates leadership by contributing to positive
changes in policy and practice that affect student learning and by modeling ethical
behavior. Function 5H - Teacher Leadership: The teacher demonstrates
leadership by implementing classroom and school initiatives that improve education
as well as by making positive changes in policy and practice that affect
student learning.
